We're having a baby this week!

My due date has come and gone. Today was my regular weekly appointment and I am going to be induced! I haven't progressed much since last week - still 1 cm dilated and a thick cervix. He gave us the option to be induced this week, or wait until next week and if she hadn't been born, be induced anyway. Jason and I both want to get this going as soon as possible. So we are scheduled for tomorrow night (Wednesday) at 8pm! Since my cervix isn't thinned out enough yet, they'll start me out by inserting a catheter to help get my cervix going. This will take overnight and they'll give me a sleeping pill to sleep through the night. In the morning, I should be 4 cm dilated, then they'll start the pitocin to get contractions going and break my water. So lil' Kristie should be here Thursday!! We are very excited. I'm getting very nervous thinking about it all. As long as I have Jason there with me, I'll be fine.

Here's some info on the catheter.
"Using a Foley catheter. Instead of using medication to ripen your cervix, your practitioner may insert a catheter with a very small uninflated balloon at the end into your cervix. When the balloon is inflated with water, it puts pressure on your cervix, stimulating the release of prostaglandins, which cause the cervix to open and soften. When your cervix begins to dilate, the balloon falls out and the catheter is removed." -BabyCenter.com

I talked to my sister in law and that is exactly what they did with her. She never effaced and never dilated on her own so, this should be super succesful! Oh, I am so glad for you. Both of us are going to be parents this week! How weird is that?
