What have we been doing?!

Dave and Janelle left on a cruise last Friday so Jason & I are watching the kids and the house while they are gone.  (For a week.) It’s been super fun! Kristie and Blake have sure been bonding. =)

So excited for their bubble bath!

Popsicle Girl

Kristie got her first Popsicle from Ona yesterday and ate with the big boys. It was pretty much the cutest thing EVER. And she loved it! Ona put a blanket on the floor and said “Ok, make as big of a mess as you want!” Oh I love her.

"How do I hold this thing?"
"Got it!"
Cheers!

It was so weird seeing her hold and eat a popsicle by herself like the big kids. Ah!

Adventures in Dishes

Kristie makes doing the dishes more fun. =) She can hear me pulling out the drawer in the dishwasher from a mile away. Then crawl over so fast and stand up and play with the silverware. What would I do without her?

Moving Forward

I can’t believe that Kristie is moving out of baby-dom. Yesterday I installed her new “big girl” car seat. It was very bittersweet. I took out her old infant car seat, put the new one inand as we were walking back up to the apartment with the old car seat to put away in storage, I just about cried! Honestly. I had all these flashbacks of carrying her around in that seat when she was tinylike taking her home from the hospital And suddenly, we were moving on and not using it anymore.  You’re probably thinking, “Jeez Candace, get a grip! It’s just a car seat!” It just kinda hit me right then and there that she’s growing up faster than I’d like her to. =)

(The new seat. I just missed her smiles - she really loves it.)
Just a few days old in her infant car seat. =)

And here was another “hit”. I receive emails each week from BabyCenter.com about how Kristie should be progressing, mommy tips, milestones and whatnot. The subject title always says “Your baby this week.” On her birthday, it said “Your TODDLER this week.” Again, had to hold back tears! WOAH.

My Toddler This Week

Hello, Candace!

Your baby has hit the 1-year mark: Happy birthday! Many view the first birthday as the toddler turning point. Others consider your baby a toddler as soon as he starts walking — or, as the case may be, taking his first tentative steps. However and whenever he crosses the line into toddlerhood, it's a bittersweet transition — you miss your little baby even as you delight in your amazing child.

K's 1st Birthday Party!

Wow, what a party! I still can't believe Kristie is a year old! We had at least 20 people show up in our apartment, so it was busy! Needless to say, Kristie was overwhelmed so she was a little on the edge the whole time. I was kinda bummed that she wasn’t her giggly, smiley self for her first birthday party, but what can ya do? We had chips & dip w/ punch together, then opened presents. Kristie sure got spoiled. Then it was cake time! She needed help blowing out the candle, and wasn’t a huge fan of the cake! BummerI was really expecting her to pile it all in her mouth ‘cause she’s never had sugary stuff before. Life goes onit was all still fun! We’re just so grateful for wonderful friends and family!! And NOW it feels official, that she’s ONE since we had the party. =)

Playing with a balloon before the party started. (She loves those now!)

My ladybug cake! It was kind of a garden party theme, so I did daisy cupcakes to go with.
Kristie personal little cake!
Both Brock & Will were able to make it!

She only had about 3 or 4 bites. =)

I forgot to take pictures of the decorations before the party! There were also balloons hanging outside on the porch that looked pretty cool. =)

Enjoy!!

Kalaloch Weekend

Jason’s Grandpa Karl’s birthday celebration was this weekend at Kalaloch Lodge! He was so kind as to hook us up with a room in their cabin. They are pretty pricey, so that was super nice of them! Otherwise we would’ve been camping, and it was cloudy and a little cold. My heaven’s these cabins have THE view. Just absolutely gorgeous ‘cause it’s right on this huge sandy beach. It was fun to be with all of Jason’s family on his mom’s sidethey are quite the bunch! I absolutely love them.

                     On the four hour drive...

The fam, plus a few of Carl's friends.
Everyone had name tags, including Kristie. =)
Kristie with her Great-Grandpa Carl & Great-Grandma Elaine! (Fuzzy picture 'cause Kristie was pretty antsy!)
The view from the cabin we stayed in!

Uncle John cracks her up!

Oh yes, we stopped in Forks. Weeoo! (It was about 40 minutes away from Kalaloch...why not?)
Bella's car. =)
"What the heck is that?" (It was dead, don't worry.)
We found a PLETHORA of skipping rocks! I kept a bunch so we can skip some here in Muk-town. Haha.
Would you look at that background?! My heavens this place was beauuutiful.

She looks so small when she doesn't sit up straight.
